About Me
Hello, I'm Michi Kono. I'm a programmer.
I like programming. I've dabbled with many languages, but I just love the simplicity, flexibility, and power of PHP. And by that, I am talking about object oriented PHP. I've started to become fond of Javascript/Actionscript's merged usage of objects and functions. I like C++ and Java because of their power and strict typing. VB wasn't too bad, but it's a little awkward because it isn't C based. I hate C structures. Matlab is a disaster. Perl needs to die.
While usually this is where most people put down their other hobbies, I'm afraid 90% of my free time really does go into thinking about or actually programming. The rest is errands or mindless activities to rest my brain (games or tv).
I have done many websites since I first started dabbling in the web in 7th grade. Over the years, my focus has shifted from web "design" (which I am terrible at) to coding. I've done many personal, business, and client websites, wildly varying in complexity and size.
I am now a career programmer. This is funny because despite being the president of the programming club in high school, I entered college as an English major, hoping to become a teacher. I kept telling myself that programming was strictly a hobby and nothing more. Obviously, that changed a few years ago when I realized tons of people got paid to produce what I did for free -- and many of those people hated every moment of it.
